Dear Parents,
Welcome to Kindergarten at New Berlin Elementary
School! We are delighted that your child will be a part of the many exciting
learning experiences, activities, and field trips that are planned for this
year in Kindergarten. The skills we practice daily in Kindergarten are the
building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life. We are
honored to work in partnership with you this year. Let's celebrate each step
your child takes toward building self confidence, a love of learning, and the
academic skills that will form the foundation for this success.
There are several things we would like to share to
get our year off to a smooth start:
-
Teachers will be communicating with parents daily
through the use of Agendas. Parents are expected to check and sign their
child's Agenda each day and be sure it is returned to school the following
day. Important notices and correspondence will be placed in the pocket of the
Agenda. The Agenda will also contain a Book Log for recording titles of books
that are read at home daily as part of the Kindergarten homework.
-
For the first two weeks of school, your child will
wear a necklace (nametag) home that we will use at dismissal. This necklace
must be worn back to school each day for the first two weeks. The necklace
will have information such as your child's name, address, phone, bus number
(if applicable), teacher's name, etc. THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD.
-
Parents are welcome to walk their children into
the classroom after 8:00am for the first two days of school. To make the
transition easier for all children, we ask that parents say good-bye quickly
and do not linger in the classroom. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Beginning on day three, students will sit in our designated location in the
hallway and read books until 8:25am. Hallways are monitored by Safety Patrols
and teacher monitors.
We are looking forward to an exciting and fun
filled year. Lights, Camera, Action...Learn!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Nichols
