FAQ

This page contains answers to common questions from both
students and parents.
  1. How does the agenda work?
  2. How do I schedule a conference?
  3. What is the Reading goal for the year?
  4. What about Spelling?
  5. How often will there be homework?

How does the agenda work?

Agendas should be checked daily for homework, citizenship
grades, and notes from the teachers. Daily citizenship grades
are determined from behavior in the classroom, lunchroom,
hallway, restroom, and during resource time. Please initial by
the grade and stress to your child the importance of following
the school rules. The agenda is an important communication tool
between teachers and parents. If your child loses his/her
agenda, a new agenda may be purchased in the office for $5.

What is the Reading goal for the year?

Fourth graders have a 25-book standard. Therefore, they must
read at least 25 books to meet their school-wide reading goal
and attend the reading celebration. Students should record books
read at home for their reading log. They are also expected to
read 20 minutes each night.

What about Spelling?

Although Spelling has been omitted from our report card, it is
still an important part of our curriculum. Spelling is
integrated into the fourth grade Writing/Language grade.

How often will there be homework?

In fourth grade, we have homework EVERY night. Monday through
Friday. Homework is a reinforcement of what was learned in
class, thus should not take longer than 30 minutes to
complete each assignment. Homework will be written in agendas
daily by students. Students are also expected to read an average
of 20 minutes each night to help meet their 25-book goal.
