My PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION:
The challenge of education today is not just to provide textbook learning,
but to also instill excitement and enthusiasm for learning. I strongly feel
that to capture a student’s interest you must involve them interactively in
the learning process. This can be achieved through creative programs
involving active student participation. A teacher should also educate by
being a role model for students to emulate. Education is the foundation on
which we prepare our children not only for professional opportunity but
assist them in dealing with life issues in general. Teachers play a
significant role in shaping these young lives into productive contributing
individuals. We should therefore represent the highest moral standards for
students to admire and respect.
DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:
A teacher establishes the behavior / discipline of the class through fair
and consistent expectation. Demanding and providing respect is my
cornerstone for discipline. I believe in providing counseling and
determining underlying issues, that affect a student behaviors,
performances, and making every attempt to guide students appropriately.
However, behavior that disrupts classroom learning must be quickly dealt
with in order to maintain a productive learning environment.

The Mission of the Nova Center is to train pre-service and experienced
educators to teach our culturally diverse student population to be literate,
productive citizens, using a seamless K-12 curriculum, in collaboration with
parents, the community , and partners in higher education.
Vision
The Nova Center will become a K-12 national model for literacy by training
pre-service and experienced educators, in a diverse learning community which
will result in maximum student achievement.
The five strategic goals described below will help the Nova Center achieve
the new vision and mission:
Staff Development Action Plan - Research shows that "focused" staff
development is necessary for student achievement. The focus of Nova Center's
staff development will be literacy, as the following plan shows.
Administrative Practices in Support of Literacy - A school administrator is
an instructional leader who promotes the success of all children. The
administrators of Nova Middle School support the quest for student literacy.
High Quality Instruction is a Dynamic System/Consistent Integration of
Reading Strategies in all Content Areas - Data shows that teachers who
consistently integrate reading strategies into their various subject areas
increase student achievement.
Literacy Text Materials and Resources - Research has shown that students who
have access to a wide range of high quality materials and resources are
higher achievers.
Literacy Articulation and Collaboration - Effective communication, planning,
and collaboration, including teachers, parents, partners, and students, work
together in democratic, reflective communities. This includes professional
conversations, sharing learning goals, and creating seamless, systemic
curriculum.
