Rules and Procedures

THIS PAGE IS IN PROGRESS

RULES
1. Follow all school rules.
2. No gum, candy, food or drink in the lab.
3. Only perform instructed tasks on the computers.

PROCEDURES
Do not confuse these procedures with the class rules because they are not
the same. Rules mainly concern your behavior and procedures are concerned
with how things are done. The procedures are designed to help you be
successful in my class. One of the biggest complaints students make about
their teachers is they never told me that or how was I supposed to know
that, Im not psychic. My procedures are your map to achieve and all you
have to do is follow them.

1. What to do with gum, food or drink in the lab: There is NEVER to be
any gum, candy, food or drink of any kind in the lab except in designated
areas. This offense is more serious in here then most of your classes
because of all the computer equipment around us.

2. Entering the classroom: Seat yourself and log-in to the computer.
Please check the AoIT website for announcements and begin work on the daily
assignment. Please do not ask what are we doing today? until you have
looked at the announcements and checked the daily assignments.

3. Assignments given a due date are turned in ON THE DUE DATE. All work
that is given a due date is due at the BEGINNING of the class period. It is
your responsibility to pay close attention to due dates and adhere to them.
Late work will NOT BE ACCEPTED unless you have an excused absence or one of
the excuses listed below. I will allow one day for each day absent up to
three (3) days. The following are acceptable reasons for work not turned in
on time and will require irrefutable proof:
    a.	Emergency room admittance (yours)
    b.	Spontaneous combustion (you)
    c.	Abducted by aliens (you)

4. When you finish early: Students are not to be sleeping, surfing the
internet, playing games, or doing nothing. These activities are not
constructive and are not allowed in the classroom. You must be working
until the end of class. SEE ME IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED ALL OF THE ASSIGNED
WORK.

5. Daily Assignments: Daily assignments should be labeled with your name,
date and class in the upper left corner. All work completed on the computer
should be saved as LASTNMEAssignment or GENNAROProcedures.
Assignments not properly named are automatically discarded and may result in
a grade of zero. Work submitted on the computer should be placed in the
teachers Drop Box. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR WORK. ITEMS
CAN BE MISPLACED OR LOST.

6. Operating the computers: DO NOT perform any functions on the
computer that you have not been instructed to do so. This includes game
playing, deleting or adding files, or entering other programs.

7. Unauthorized repairs: DO NOT perform any repairs to any computer on
campus unless you are specifically directed to do so by me or the site
tech. This includes hooking up printers, monitors, keyboards and mice.
Anyone who does so will receive a referral with the recommendation for
suspension for the first offense. A second offense may result in removal
from the AoIT program.

8. The privilege of having comfortable chairs: You are not to abuse the
privilege of having comfortable office chairs to sit in. This means there is
to be no spinning around, leaning back, or wheeling yourself around. If you
cannot behave correctly, your chair will be replaced with a hard desk chair
that does not move.

9. End of the period class dismissal: I will always dismiss the class,
NOT the bell. If the bell rings and you get up to leave, you will be
instructed to sit down. Once everyone is seated I will dismiss you, push
your chairs in and then leave quietly.

Procedures are a part of life. They help things to run smoothly and in an
organized manner. We follow procedures for using a telephone book, starting
a car or approaching a traffic light. Procedures help people function in
society by letting them know the acceptable and efficient ways things are
done.
