Reading Counts is a program which allows students to read books at
their appropriate reading levels. After students have read their book,
they are able to take a computer generated comprehension quiz. To see
a list of books go on to the Parkside website and click on to
Curriculum Connections. The students receive instant feedback on how
they did on their comprehension quiz. If the student scores 70% or
above on the quiz, they earn points. Each book is assigned different
points according to the reading level of the book. Every student will
be assigned a point goal for each quarter. When a student reaches
his/her goal they will be able to earn an award. Reading Counts is an
important part of my classroom because it encourages students to read
independently.
