Advanced Composition

Welcome to Advanced Composition where writing is our focus every class 
period, all class period long.

Instead of several small writing assignments, you will write one short story 
this quarter. The story will be a narrative of at least ten pages in length.  
It should include standard prose passages as well as dialogue.  In order to 
get started examine your own life:  what do you really know, know well enough 
to write about -- this is the subject you'll what to choose for your short 
fiction.      

Quarter 4 -- Narrative:  Steps for the Project

2% -- Story Idea List: List of 3-5 story ideas and why you want to write 
about them.  Due -- Thursday 3-19, end of period.

5% -- Character List with Descriptions -- Thursday, April 2nd, beginning of 
period.  
 
10% -- Introductory Paragraphs: Must include setting, where, when, mood and 
etc, as well as the conflict(s)-- Tuesday, April 28th, end of period.    

10% -- Full First Draft -- Tuesday, May 12th, end of period.  

53% -- Final Draft -- Thursday, May 28th, end of period.  

20% -- Participation/Attendance -- Daily drafting and writing.
