Algebra II The Pendleton School 2008-2009 Instructor: Mr. Bob Busch Text: Bellman, Algebra II, Prentice Hall, 2006. Required Materials: You need a text book, composition book, and pencils. The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus graphing calculator is required. The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus is the calculator I will teach operations on. This will also be used again in your higher level math and science studies. Course description: Algebra II builds on the skills presented in Algebra I. The curriculum sets the basis for higher-level mathematical thinking. This course is a precursor to Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. The curriculum will include: • Functions, graphs, and equations • Linear systems • Matrices • Polynomials • Radicals • Exponents and logs • Sequences and series • Probability and statistics Grading: Grading will follow the guidelines found on page 7 of your planner. A formal exam will be given at the end of each chapter, as well as a semester exam. Exams will be a problem format with a frequent vocabulary and writing component. Quizzes will be frequent and unannounced. Reinforcement assignments will be given on a daily basis. • Tests 50% • Quizzes 30% • Homework 20% • Special projects as required Discipline: Discipline policy will follow page 2 in your planner.
