Instructor:  Mr. Bob Busch

Text: Lial, Trigonometry, Eighth Edition, Pearson, 2005.

Required Materials: You need a text book, composition book, and pencils.  The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus graphing calculator is required.  The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus is the calculator I will teach operations on.  This will also be used again in your higher level math and science studies.

Course description: This course is a one semester survey of trigonometry.  The class builds on the skills presented in Algebra II.  The curriculum sets the basis for higher-level mathematical thinking.  This course is a precursor to Precalculus, and Calculus.  The curriculum will include:
              Trigonometric functions
              Acute angles and right angles
              Radian measure and circular functions
              Trigonometric identities
              Exponential and logarithmic
              Inverse circular functions

Grading: Grading will follow the guidelines found on page 8 of your
Planner.  A formal exam will be given at the end of each chapter, as well as a semester exam.  Exams will be a problem format with a frequent vocabulary and writing component.  Quizzes will be frequent and unannounced.  Reinforcement assignments will be given on a daily basis.  The grading balance is as follows:
              Tests 50%
              Quizzes 30%
              Homework 20%
              Special projects as required

Discipline: Discipline policy will follow page3 in your planner.  The
primary rule is respect for yourself, your fellow students, and your
instructor.

Let’s work together to make this a fun and educational year!
