Meeting Minutes
February 26, 2009
The meeting was opened by the president at 12:00
Mr. Blaweiss (one of our college counselors) was a guest speaker. He emphasized the following:
· Membership in organizations like NHS is very important
· Volunteer service hours are becoming increasing important
· Many universities no longer use SAT scores
· Campus participation and your essay are critical
Meetings and communication
· A schedule for the year is posted on the school web in Mr. Busch’s folder
· Minutes and announcements are found there also
· E-mails of interest are sent to parents and students using the address held by the administration
· Parents are encouraged to forward news to students
Group service project
· We have been invited to become athlete assistants at the Special Olympics
o Saturday March 7 at
o 10:30 until about 2:00
o Meet at Mr. Busch’s room at 10:15
o Wear a Pendlenton shirt
o We will be introduced as a NHS group
o Service hours will be awarded
Individual service project
· We will begin tutoring middle school students in the evenings at directed learning
· See Mr. Busch for details and a schedule
· Service hours will be awarded
Dues for the year are $10 due to Mr. Busch by March 6
The next meeting will be March 26
