Do you have any children that attend St. John Vianney?
I have a daughter that is in 2nd grade. Her name is Caroline. I also have
a 4 year old in pre-school. Her name is Josephine (Josie).
What happens if I fail a class or make a D?
You will not be allowed to perform in the play. Being a member in the St.
John Vianney Players is a privilege, not a right. But first and foremost,
your school work!
When is the cast party?
Unless one of you plans it, there won't be a cast party. However, if your
parents put it together, Mr. Yogi will be more than happy to grace the
party with a tasty dish of something or another...
What is the name of the new show? What is it about?
We are donig Annie, Jr. It is a shortened version of the original, Tony
Award winning musical.
Can I be in sports and the play?
That depends on you. I try very hard to work around everyone's schedule;
however, there will be times when it is crucial that everyone be at play
rehearsal for the good of the show. If you are able to balance your
schedule and put the play first when necessary, there shouldn't be a
problem. If you are the star player for your sport; however, you probably
should not consider auditioning for the play.
Can we stay after school on rehearsal or performance days?
Yes, you can. However, you must go to Alpha at dismissal until I can get up
to the school to spring you out. Unless, of course, you have a parent who
is willing to babysit y'all until I get to the school.
Do the boys have to wear make-up, too?
YES and sometimes tights!
When will the cast list be posted?
After we have heard from all the teachers and Sister Elizabeth. Once you
are selected for the cast, you will receive a script.
Why didn't I make the cast?
There are a variety of reasons why a person may not be cast in a show. Many
times, schedule conflicts can be the problem. Or, I could be looking for a
specific look for a certain character. It is not always something you can
control. However, if you want to improve your chances: be expressive, speak
loudly, and try to get on the crews of shows you aren't in!
What is crew?
The crew makes the show happen. They set up props, sell tickets, run
lights, etc. Being on the crew is also a good way to get me to know
who you are. It is an opportunity to show me how well you can keep
commitments, be responsible, and work with others.
Why do we have to pay a fee?
The fees for the shows go to pay for royalties (permission from the
publisher to perform the show) costumes, make-up, props, set pieces, and
whatever else we need to put a play together.
Is the fee refundable if I decide to quit the show?
No. I base the budget of the show on the number of people cast. I have
already spent your fee money on things that are needed to make the
production happen.
What if I am absent from school the day of a rehearsal?
Email me or have your parents email me in the morning so that I know you
will not be there before I get to the school, in case I need to change the
rehearsal schedule.
