7th grade:
70 points= 1st trimester
75 points= 2nd trimester
80 points= 3rd trimester
8th grade:
80 points= 1st trimester
85 points= 2nd trimester
85 points= 3rd trimester
- As incentive to continue reading beyond the required RC points, and as a way to improve their overall Reading grade, students in 7th and 8th who surpass the required points are eligible to earn bonus points toward their overall trimester Reading grade. The scale is as follows:
10 pts. above required RC points = 2 pts. added to lowest test score
20 pts. above required RC points = 5 pts. added to lowest test score
30 pts. above required RC points = 7 pts. added to lowest test score
- At least 50% of a student's points comes from the required reading list for their grade level.
When choosing a book not on their reading list, the book should still be near the student's
lexile and grade level.
All Sunshine State Young Reader's Award (SSYRA) books for grades 6-8 will also count as reading
list books.
NOTE: Parents should expect an update sent home every 4 weeks with an update of RC points. This
needs to be signed and returned to school as a completion for homework.
