Science HomeworkWednesday, May 20th: Quiz tomorrow on the parts of the eye. Binder check also. Wednesday, May 13th: Quiz tomorrow on section 1 of Chapter 7. Study the directed reading sheets. Friday, May 8th: There is a test on Monday on Chapter 6. Be sure to use the study guide. Tuesday, May 5th: Finish (and re-do) the lab about your pulse. Graph the results. Be prepared to turn in tomorrow. Thursday, April 30th: Finish the Directed Reading Sheet - Chapter 6 Section 1 Tuesday, April 28th: Test tomorrow on Chapter 5. Read the section reviews and answer the questions in order to study. Monday, April 27th: Finish drawing, labeling and coloring the cross section of the skin. Also, study for Wednesday's test. Thursday, April 23rd: None. There will be a test on Chapter 5 (Holt) pages 130 - 145 on Wednesday of next week. Start studying now. Wednesday, April 22nd: None Monday, April 20th: Study the bones. Quiz tomorrow (4th period - quiz on Wednesday). Finish labeling the bones on your cut out skeleton. Friday, April 17th: Study the bones of the body. There will be a quiz on Tuesday. Thursday, April 16th: Finish working on your index cards. There should be 12 cards (see page 132 Holt); copy the function of each body system, and write down the main organs for each system. We will go over these in class tomorrow. If you are interested in re-taking the science test on Ecology, it will be on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Field trip money due tomorrow. Tomorrow we will review Chapter 12 and there will be an open note test on Wednesday. Thursday, April 2nd: Finish writing your 2 paragraphs about the Florida panther. Due tomorrow. Remember: Each paragraph should have a topic sentence, 3 or more supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence. Paragraph 1 - Characteristics of the Florida panther and its habitat. Paragraph 2- What can be done to increase the population of Florida panthers? Tuesday, March 31st: Vocabulary Quiz tomorrow. Study the words on the back of the bingo sheet. Friday, March 27th: Finish the Directed Reading Section 3 worksheets, due Tuesday. Thursday, March 26th: Finish your drawing of the Food Web. Remember to include all the arrows as well as the labels: first, second, third-level consumers; producers; and decomposers. This will be collected tomorrow. Wednesday, March 25th: Finish the Directed Reading Section 2 worksheets. Study vocabulary terms. Tuesday, March 24th: Finish the Directed Reading worksheet. Monday, March 23rd: Study pages 314 - 318 of the Sciencesaurus for a quiz tomorrow. Also, finish the activity (if you have internet access at home) in order to help you study for the quiz. Bring in signed permission slip for video/talk with Nurse Greenwood. Thursday, March 19th: No homework. Enjoy your weekend! Tuesday, March 17th: Finish the questions from the lab activity (this will be collected tomorrow). Any late work must also be turned in tomorrow. Monday, March 16th: No homework. Check your updated progress report and see if there is any work that needs to be made up to help raise your grade. All work needs to be turned in by Wednesday in order to be counted. Thursday, March 12th: Quiz tomorrow on forces and speed. Bring a calculator for the word problems. Wednesday, March 11th: Bring the Marble Lab Activity Sheet to class tomorrow. We will have a quiz (open binder) on Friday about force and speed; bring a calculator if possible. Friday, March 6th: Finish the two graphs if you did not finish them in class. Wednesday, March 4th: Finish the two worksheets about force. The second sheet (3 questions) will be collected and graded, so don't forget the drawings. Reminder: We need your donations of peppermints, snacks, and small bottles of water for FCAT time. Please send these to school as soon as possible, and thank you. It will be based on the same Sciencesaurus pages, 175 - 185. Tuesday, February 24th: Finish reading the worksheets about weathering and erosion. Answer the questions on Sheet 3. This may be collected tomorrow. Friday, February 20th: Enjoy the weekend. Thursday, February 19th: Study for tomorrow's test. Finish your world map, if not yet complete. Wednesday, February 18th: Finish working on your study guide; we will review it in class on Thursday. Finish map of earthquakes, volcanoes and plate boundaries for Friday. Test on Friday. Tuesday, February 17th: Finish drawing the plate boundaries on your world map. Label and color each plate. This is due on Thursday. Test on Friday (pages 175-185 of the Sciencesaurus, plus your notes). Friday, February 13th: Finish locating earthquakes and volcanoes on your world map. Bring it in and let's try to identify it. (Nothing of value, please.) Tuesday, February 3rd: Finish your foldable booklet about the layers of the earth. Remember to label all the parts. Extra Credit is due tomorrow. Monday, February 2nd: Extra Credit Opportunity- Make corrections of your science test and you will earn extra points! Rewrite the question with the correct answer, neatly, for each one you scored wrong. You will receive 1/2 of the points of the incorrect questions. This is due Wednesday. Late work will not be accepted. For tomorrow: Bring in colored pencils, crayons, or markers for a "foldable" booklet we will be making. Bring glue, too. Tuesday, January 27th: No homework today, but there is a test on Friday. It will be "open-notebook," so be sure to organize your binder. I will also check your binder, for a grade, on Friday. Also, Friday is the last day to turn in your "night sky" sheet. Friday, January 23rd: Complete the worksheet as you observe the night sky. Have a parent sign it. Remember, you can find the website on the "All About Science" link. Friday, January 16th: Have a great, long weekend, and bring in extra information for your poster on Tuesday. Tuesday, January 13th: Finish both sides of the sheet about seasons. Thursday, January8th: Study for vocabulary quiz. Tuesday, January 6th: Work on your drawings and vocabulary terms; your poster is due on Friday. On Thursday we will review these vocaulary words and there will be a quiz on them on Friday. Please bring in the Video Release Form signed by your parents as soon as possible. Monday, January 5th: Welcome back! Bring in a piece of dark poster paper, as well as markers or colored pencils. Also, bring in the signed video release form. Finish your Directed Reading sheets if you did not finish them in class. Tuesday, December 16th: Bring in information to work on the PowerPoint. Tomorrow is the last day to work on the presentation in class. Note: On Friday we will have short classes in order to see the movie "A Christmas Carol" in the afternoon. We will have a snack during that time as well, so, if possible, bring in some type of holiday treat to share with your first period class as we watch the movie. Monday, December 15th: Bring in some information to use to create your PowerPoint presentation in class tomorrow and Wednesday. Thursday, December 11th: Read pages 514 - 517 of the red Holt textbook. Tuesday, December 9th: Change of date: Test on Thursday. Monday, December 8th: Look at your Wavestown Picture and circle the examples of electromagnetic waves in the picture. Test on Wednesday on Sciencesaurus pages 299 - 313. We will review for the test tomorrow. Thursday, December 4th: Field Trip Tomorrow. Be sure to get here early, and bring your lunch. Monday, December 1st: Read pages 304-307 in the Sciencesaurus about waves. Extra Credit Opportunity: Write a one page (minimum) typed report about the 7 different types of energy. You must put all information into your own words - no copying/pasting. You must use two different sources of information (not the text) and cite your sources of information. This will count for 10 points added to a low test, quiz, or project score at the end of the grading period. DUE: Monday, December 8th. Monday, November 24th: Finish both sides of the two worksheets if not finished in class. Wednesday, November19th: (Quiz today). Read pages 301-305 from the Sciencesaurus. Monday, November 17th: No homework, but please - Bring in field trip forms as soon as possible. Thursday, November 13th: Complete the graph and the questions for Part A of the Pendulum Lab. Tomorrow we will continue with Part B. Wednesday, November 12: Finish Energy around the Home Worksheet if not completed. Tuesday, November 11th: Complete Energy around the Home Worksheet. PLEASE bring in permission slips for the field trip as soon as possible. Friday, November 7th: Use the weekend to complete any late work you may have to finish. Extra Credit Assignment: Complete the worksheet about atomic theory history. Turn in no later than Monday. This will be worth up to 10 points on a quiz for the marking period. Monday, October 13th: Test tomorrow on Chapter 21 of Text (p. 578-602) and on notes from the Sciencesaurus book. Know your study guide! Friday, October 10th: Work on your study guide. The test will be on Tuesday. Wednesday, October 8th: Bring in your poster tomorrow if you have not yet done so. There will be a test on Monday on the properties of matter (Chapter 21 of the text). Monday, October 6th: Work on your poster. Label the front "Physical Changes" and the back "Chemical Changes". For each side find 6 pictures and 1) identify what change is taking place, and 2) why it is a physical or chemical change. Tuesday, September 30th: Finish Directed Reading using pages 578-585 of the text. This will be checked in class. Thursday, September 25th: Study for tomorrow's test. Use your study guide. You may add some notes to your measurement booklet and may use it on the test. No other notes may be used. I will finish checking binders as well. Monday, September 22nd: Finish answering questions from today's lab activity. There will be a test on Friday (Thursday will be review day).
