October 30th through January 15th FOCUS: READING
Week days, students are required to spend at least 25 minutes reading a
chapter book of his or her choice.
After reading, students are expected to respond to the reading using one or
more of the literature response symbols, or by making a text connection.
(Please see Reader Response to Literature page in front of the reading log.)
Sticky notes or peices of paper may be used to mark the page.
Finally, students must record each reading in his or her reading log which is
kept in a red folder. A parent signature is required to complete each entry.
Reading Logs Due: Readings will be checked for a grade, each friday. Logs
must be complete with parent/guardian signatures at that time. Weekends are
optional for extra credit.
Students are studying the definition and four steps to identifying the "main
idea" and supporting details of a passage.
