What is the attendance policy?
I cannot emphasize it enough, it's imperative that your child come to school everyday and on time. Excessive absences and tardies will ultimately affect your child's progress in school. School Board Rule 6Gx13-5A-1.04, Student Attendance - Specific Responsibilities defines "Excused Absence" as: 1. Student Illness 2. Medical Appointment 3. Death in family 4. Observance of religious holiday 5. School-sponsored event previously approved 6. Other individual student absences beyond the control of the parent or student, as determined and approved by the principal or the principal's designee." If a student is continually sick and repeatedly absent from school, he or she must be under under the supervision of a physician in order to receive an excused absence. Students accumalating 10 or more absences in a school year, or (5) or more absences in a semester course, due to illness are required to have a doctor's note. Furthermore, the excessive absences will be documented, referred to administration, and filed in your child's cummulative records. When the student returns to school, they must turn in a note. If a note is not turned in within 2 days from the date he or she was absent - it will be considered an unexcused absence. A student accumalating (10) or more during a school year or (5) or more unexcused absences during a semester course will be subject to the withholding of passing final grades pending a student/-parent-requested administrative screening and/or review of all absences by an attendance review committee.Back to Top
