We enjoy celebrating the creative and colorful pieces made by the Southside Elementary pupils. Student art can be seen in a variety of settings. The Southside Cafe in the lunchroom has a bright display of student art . We are also showing work at Comerica Bank, on Osprey Ave. in Southside Village shopping district. We opened a new exhibit on November 15. The paintings by children in grades 2, 3 and five will be on exhibit through the first week in January. Drop by the bank and take a look if you are in the area. The second graders created sponge paintings inspired by Claude Monet. The Third graders used a wet on wet watercolor technique for paintings of over sized flowers inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe, and the fifth graders have made self-portraits inspired by the styles of Picasso, and also have colored pencil designs on display. The next opening reception for student art will be on January 24.
