Fourth and fifth graders kicked off art club in 2013 by creating ceramic 'castle towers'.

Jade's penguins are an example of the graphite (pencil) work we have been practicing in Tuesday drawing club.

Fourth and fifth graders worked one line and shading techniques. They drew animals and created Zentangle tiles and circle designs with structured patterns and shading.

The Friday sketchbook club meets during school hours at the end of the day on Fridays. In addition to using sketchbooks we try other media. The club participants in grades 3-5 have completed Zentangle black ink tiles and will be working on scenery with the drama club members for our December 18th, 'Southside Celebrates the Arts' evening.

In the 2012-2013 school year students will have the option of art club after school on Tuesdays for a small fee to offset expenses, or during school at the end of the day on Fridays. All clubs will be advertised soon. In the autumn we will will offer drawing club for 5th graders that meets for 5 weeks. In the winter we will offer two clubs, one for grades 4 & 5 and one for grades 2 & 3. The winter clubs include a clay project and an acrylic painting project. Friday club is ongoing. There is no cost for the Friday club that meets during the school day from 2:20-3:10. The space in the clubs is limited so a quality experience can be provided for the children.
