Do the Right Thing Program

The Bay County Sheriff Department and The News Herald are continuing the "Do the Right Thing Program" for the 2009-2010 school year. This program is designed to positively impact the youth of our community by publicly recognizing students who distinguish themselves through their exemplary behavior and by establishing them as role models for their peers. Nominated students will be recognized quarterly.

Student winners are typically chauffeured by the Bay County Sheriff Department to be recognized at an awards luncheon held at the Golden Corral. Parents are encouraged to attend. Winners are featured in a Do the Right Thing article in The News Herald. WMBB-News Channel 13 conducts student interviews after the luncheon and are aired at 6:00 P.M. during the evening news.

Who can nominate students for the Do the Right Thing program?

Teachers, librarians, principals, school staff, parents, and fellow students can nominate a student for this program.
