Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope that all of you and your families enjoyed your
Christmas and I wish you many blessings in the new year.
Mrs. Wilson and I would like to thank our students and parents for the
thoughtful and heartfelt Christmas gifts and wishes.
We really enjoyed the Christmas break. It was nice to relax and get ready
for the remainder of the school year. We both are looking forward to seeing
our students and watching them continues to grow spiritually and
academically. It is such a gift to be part of this wonderful time in their
lives. Thank you!
Reading:
We will be starting Theme 5, "Whatever the Weather". This week will
introduce the consonants k and b, and the high frequency words me and for.
We will continue to practice the short vowels a and i. The short vowel o
will be introduced during this theme.
Please try to have your children practice reading and spelling words from
the an, ad, at, ap, am, ad, in, it, ip, im, in, it, id word families.
Math:
We will finish Chapter Six - "Solid Shapes". We will then start a new
unit, "Numbers through 12".
Social / Science
Weather. I am going to incorporate science with our reading series. I am
particularly excited about teaching students about snow because I am going to
also incorporate math (symmetry and measuring) and religion ("Jesus Loves Us
Snow Much! and we are all unique like a snowflake).
Nutrition: I am very excited about the Nutrition lesson plan that I have
developed for the course I had recently taken. I can't wait to teach the
students about My Pyramid and healthy habits.
Post Cards – please send in post cards for your child to share as part of our
Social Studies. Please feel free to send in pictures, special show and
tells, foods, etc that represents your child’s heritage. I think it is a
great way for the students to learn and appreciate their own cultures and
other’s.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
