Physical Education / K-5 thru 8th Grade

Class Policies

Students in grades K thru 5th participate in physical education
classes wearing their school uniforms. Please be sure that what your
child is wearing on P.E. days is appropriate for vigorous outdoor
activity. Safety issues require that gym shoes be worn for
participation.

Middle school students change into a required gym uniform for
physical education classes. The uniform is any St. John's t-shirt
and a pair of navy blue shorts. See the Student Dress Code for more
information.

Students who are not dressed appropriately for physical activity will
not participate in P.E. class.

Students are taught to respect themselves and their bodies (as well
as others, of course!) Therefore, illnesses or injuries which
require modified activity can be presented verbally to the teacher.
Participation will be adapted according to the student's needs.
Parent notes are not necessarily required. If a written note is
presented please be sure to indicate whether you would like your
child to decide on participation considering the illness/injury and
that day's activity! Most students prefer to participate if at all
possible.

Grading for physical education classes is based on: Understanding
the Concepts taught; Skill Development; and Appropriate
Participation. Quarterly grades are assigned and recorded on their
PowerGrade report.

Parent communication is welcomed. If you have any questions or
comments please call the school office and leave a phone number/email
address where you can be reached or you may use the email link at the
top of this page.
