Originally from Michigan, my family moved to Venice in 1976. I attended
Venice Junior High and Venice High School and graduated in 1982. I went to
Manatee Junior College (named at that time, in the Brickyard). I then
received my education degree from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. I
taught first grade for five years in Cobb County, Georgia then was a stay-at-
home mom for 11 years after my two sons were born. I am currently re-
married and have two step-sons who also live with us. We live locally in
Venice and my husband and I spend most of our time transporting our four
wonderful boys (16,16,14,13 years old) to their various activities. We
also enjoy watching movies at home as a family and taking road trips
together .
My goal is create an environment condusive to the learning style of each
individual student. I want to motivate each student to try his/her very
best and yet not be afraid of making mistakes. It is my job to make each
lesson interesting and creative and stick to the guidelines of the Sunshine
State Standards. In Personal Development, I must also give the students an
atmosphere of respect and acceptance so they will feel comfortable sharing
personal experiences which will increase the learning level of all students
enrolled in my class.
