Welcome to 4th Grade Gifted

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Mrs. Raude's Fourth Grade Gifted at Sunset Lakes Elementary School! I am sure that there are many happy parents out there this week, happy to get their children back into the school routine.

We have a very busy and exciting year in store for us! In our 4th grade classroom, all students will enjoy a rigorous, challenging program that is engaging and appropriate for addressing each individual student’s needs.  Your child will work toward meeting and exceeding state standards and toward acquiring the tools/skills necessary for his/her future, academically and otherwise.  Each student will have the opportunity to develop his/her reading, writing, math and other academic skills and knowledge through our reading and math programs and a wide variety of literature, hands-on activities, historical resources, scientific inquiry, manipulatives, realia, and technology.  Students will be engaged in activities that develop higher level thinking skills as they work together to increase their knowledge and develop social skills.  We will also participate in weekly enrichment programs for science, the arts, computers, and the library.

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone. I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes, if necessary. I know with your help that we are going to have a great year!
