Welcome to Our Class Website!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2007-2008 4th grade school year! You can't imagine how excited I am about teaching
your children! We are going to have a great time in this class, and we are going to learn a great deal together.
When I say together, I mean all of us...your child, you, and me. We will be working together as a team with a
common goal. That goal is to educate and nurture your son or daughter.
Please be involved in your child's studies. The rewards for active participation in your child's education are
hard to see on a day to day basis, but they will manifest themselves down the road, I assure you.
I have created this website with you, the parent, in mind. I want you to be informed as to what my
expectations are, as well as what is going on in our classroom. I have included many links to other websites
I feel will help and inform you and your child. I have also included many tips and ideas to help you and your
child succeed. I will update this website as often as I can and as often as I find something new, creative,
informative, and helpful.
I pledge to you I will work to the best of my ability to create a nurturing and safe learning environment.
I will help each child work harder than they ever thought they could. I will make each child wonder, question,
criticize, and critique. I will help each child learn the importance in being a caring, responsible, sensitive,
well-prepared citizen.
Parents, I hope to meet with you in the near future (if I haven't already done so) to review your child's
goals for the upcoming school year. I am here for you and your child should you have any questions or
concerns. Please contact me at school during school hours or via email.

"Two Sculptors"
 I dreamed I saw a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher-the tools he used
Were books, music, and art.
The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand,
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled with a touch,
That was careful and sure,
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last, their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child.
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If either had worked alone.
For behind the parents stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.
