Smart Centers provide a purposeful framework for young children to practice concepts, demonstrate creativity and originality, interact with peers, and work independently while reaching their full potential. Readers will learn how to implement and modify the learning model of “Read, Write, Activity, and Challenge” in learning centers. Interesting, hands-on activities will engage all students as the centers provide the perfect opportunity to practice literacy concepts while integrating math, science, social studies, art, music, and health. Mrs. Raude's Smart Centers will build students’ strengths through authentic activities supporting national and state standards. During our Smart Center session, student’s engagement and interest in learning increase dramatically. As students work in small groups, the other children apply learning and engage in independent, hands-on activities promoting independence and problem-solving. Children learn best when they are actively engaged. Implementing smart centers in the classroom: *Promotes independence *Helps students become more responsible *Allows students to learn through self-discovery *Provides the teacher of the gifted with time to pull students one-on-one or in small groups to target specific academic skills, differenciate, compact, and enrich the curriculum, and as a result, better meet the needs of individual students. Our sharp centers wil change bi-weekly in order to reflect concepts and skills being focused on in our classroom. Our Center Titles Are As Follows: Literacy Smart My Choice Smart Writer's Smart Math Smart Science Smart **Social Studies and Computer Literacy will be infused throughout**
