A Little About Me:

This is my fifth year of teaching Language Arts at the middle school level.  
Before moving to Florida two years ago, I lived in Northern Kentucky where I 
taught 7th grade language Arts as well.  In my spare time I'm an avid tennis 
player and runner.

What To Expect From This Class:

I'm not a textbook person and I believe that it is important for students to 
become more acquainted with real world reading material such as news 
articles, editorials, feature articles, speeches, etc.  Seeing a purpose in 
everyday reading material helps students understand why we study specific 
reading strategies and methods of navigating difficult text.  In addition to 
reading real world texts, we will also be keeping a portfolio of student 
written editorials, feature articles, persuasive letters, memoirs, etc. My 
goal is for all students to become proficient writers in expressing their 
thoughts and ideas to a specific audience.
