Mrs. Geiger is an avid reader and enjoys sharing her passion for literature
and learning with her students. She is a Gainesville native and Florida
Gator. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, a Master's Degree
in Elementary Education, a Specialist Degree in Instruction & Curriculum,
and recently completed a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She
received her National Board Certification in 2003. Mrs. Geiger is married
and has two children and two dogs. She enjoys traveling and learning about
diverse cultures.
This class is designed to help you read and understand more and more complex
texts. We will read many different kinds of texts for various purposes.
Mrs. Geiger will stive to increase your motivation to read so that you
continually find pleasure in reading throughout your lifetime. We will work
extensively to increase your speaking and writing vocabulary. We will also
work to develop and use appropriate reading strategies with advanced texts
from many genres. Finally, the class will hopefully help you think, speak,
and write about texts in a manner that demonstrates your intellectual
ability; the idea is to take your brilliant ideas and communiciate them
clearly, both orally and in written form.
