Tiger Club Challenge

IntroducingTiger Challenge Club

The Tiger Challenge Club is for students who are interested in achieving "above and beyond" the normal classroom expectations. Each month, I will provide students with an optional challenge activity. Often these activities are sponsored through the School Board of Alachua County or through teacher clubs/magazines and can offer great prizes and recognition. Moreover, all students who participate for that month will receive Mrs. Ferraros Fortune and be acknowledged on our class website.

Novembers Tiger Challenge

Ring a Bell for Reading

This months Tiger Challenge asks students to cut out a paper bell (8.5 X 11 or smaller) and write a two-line holiday message that celebrates reading. For example, last year's wining bell read (to the tune of "Let it Snow")..."The weather outside is frightful, but books are so delightful. So go find a cozy nook, and read a book, read a book, read a book!" Bells should also be decorated with crayons, paint, markers, fabric, beads, etc.

Winners will be chosen by Scholastic based on creativity and clarity. Twenty-five students will receive a 25-book readers library (estimated retail value: $100.00.) In addition, for every bell received, Scholastic will donate a book to a child in need and a selection of bells to be posted on-line at www.scholastic.com/classroomscare

All students who participate can earn up to $40.00 of Mrs. Ferraros Fortune and be posted on our class web-site.

Bells are due to Mrs. Ferraro by Tuesday, November 27, 2007.
