FAQThis page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
When do I need to have my supplies at school? You need to always have regular lined notebook paper and pencils the first day. You will have at least a week to bring in your supplies. Please no Trapper keepers or loose leaf notebooks. There is no room for these. Also back packs need to be cleaned out daily. How often will I have homework? Homework will be assigned on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. You might have to work on completing projects at other times. You will have one book report project due at the end of each month. Do I need a written excuse when I'm absent or tardy? Yes, please bring one in on the following school day. Will I need to pay for anything extra? There is a fee for the Time for Kids subscription (weekly) with 4 additional supplements. The total will be $6 for the entire year. An agenda book will be provided. If you send a check, please make it out to Time for Kids. Will we be ordering from the Scholastic Book Club? (Arrow books). Yes, I will send in an order monthly if we have the minimum needed to order. These are reasonably priced children's books. I will get bonus books to add to our classroom library. Yes, I would like to train some parents to lead book discussion groups of 5 to 6 students who can come on a weekly basis. I also need help with parties and some field trips. I would love to have some parents come in to teach a craft to students or work on special projects. What do I do if my child will be out due to a trip or other family plans? Please stop by the office and pick up an independent study contract BEFORE you leave for a trip. Your child will have some additional time to make up any other missed work. What is the dress code for SPS? No flip flops- PLEASE! Tennis shoes on PE days. No spaghetti straps or short shorts. Dress appropriately for somewhat chilly AC. You may bring a nutritious snack daily and a bottle of water. Please no pop. If you want to bring something for the whole class, please check with your homeroom teacher a day or so ahead of time. |
