Welcome back everyone! It is wonderful to see all of your smiling faces
back in the New Year. I missed everyone!
We're coming to the close of second quarter on January 15th. It's time to
meet those reading counts goals! Our class average is 47 points. Way to go
rockin' readers. Let's get to 50!
Our class will be writing our "Top 10" goals for 2010. Come and check them
out on our outside bulletin board. I hope to have it completed by the end of
the week.
Our book report for the month of January will be a "Museum Exhibit". After
reading a book of your choice, bring in an "artifact" from the book to be
displayed at school. On the computer, type out the title, author and at
least 4 sentences that tell about your story. For example, a child who reads
The Cat Went to Heaven might bring in a picture of a cat or a stuffed animal
cat for the display. Your artifact may be attached to your writing. (using a
plastic sheet protector helps) We will open our "museum" for other classes to
visit. Any questions, just ask.
Book reports will be graded on neatness, completeness, creativity,
responsibility (turned in on time).
Our target skills this week:
Reading Comprehension: author's purpose/point of view, monitor
comprehension: Make Inferences
Phonics: long vowel o spelled ow, oa, phonograms -ow, -oat, -own, -oast
Grammar: homophonrd
