About The Teacher
Let me introduce myself. My name is Deb Smith and I am proud to say that this will be my 17th year of teaching! I have taught both kindergarten and first grade and love what I do! In 1995, I graduated from USF with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In 2003 I earned a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from NLU. My certifications include Gifted, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and ESOL. A few of my favorite things... Colors: red and royal blue Hobbies: health, nutrition, fitness, running, boxing, tennis, stand up paddling, fishing, music of all genres and movies Beverages: coffee and water Food: (Healthy!)Thai,curry, fish, extra dark chocolate Place: anywhere near or on the water and Italy (dream destination) Animals: My labradoodle Lola and new kitten Sweet Pea People: My 11 year old daughter Delaney and my first graders of course!

Always high expectations for everyone! Do what you love, love what you do! If you think you can, you can! Building a relationship with each of my students is so important to me. Letting them know that I care is essential to our teacher student relationship. We build this sense of trust and caring within our classroom community through class meetings and cooperative learning activities such as weekly team/class building.
