We made it safely
back from our trip "arou nd
the world" as we explored the Christmas traditions enjoyed by families in
other countries. After that journey, we hopped on the Polar Express and
visited Santa in the North Pole. Now THAT was quite an experience! I hope the
kids had as much fun as I did! Be sure and check out the pictures of both our
"Cold Relay" races and of the Polar Express.
When we return to
class after Winter Break, we'll spend one week enjoying a short "Cold Theme".
Then, we will begin a whole class reading of the book, Stone Fox. It is
definitely one of my very favorite books, and I can't wait to share it with
the kids!
I apologize that
the Reading Counts points have not been updated since December 4. I don't have
the capability to personally download RC points, and lately I have not been
able to get the points from the main computer at school. When we are able to
see the points, you're going to be amazed! The kids have done such a great job
reading!!
Thank you so much
to all the moms who willingly gave of their time during our week prior to
Winter Break. You helped during our Cold Relays, the Cold Party, and during
the Polar Express trip. Everyone pitched in to provide some type of item for
the week's activities. All of this was in addition to the regular hours spent
by many of you volunteering in the classroom! You are ALL amazing!!!
Thank you, too,
for the many cards and gifts that I received for the holidays. So many times I
tell people that my biggest blessing is being able to teach at Tatum Ridge
with all of the fantastic kids and families. I love you all!!
Congratulations to
Ben, our first Player of the Week for the new year! I can't wait to see what
he brings in to share with us when we return to school. I'll bet he brings in
at least one Gator thing!
I have a favor to
ask of you. Our class store is getting depleted! If you decide to clean out
toychests to make more room for new toys and would like to send in small,
gently-loved toys for our treasure chest, I know the kids would appreciate it.
Think "garage sales". Toys that are no longer wanted by your child might be
treasure for other students in the room. Or, you might see small, inexpensive
toys on Clearance Aisles or in After Christmas Sales. Items might include
stickers, fancy pencils, small trinkets, McDonald's toys, etc. The kids will
go class store shopping shortly after we return. They've collected a lot of
"money" for being good and working hard, and I know they'll be excited to
spend it!! They're not "picky". They like just about anything!!
Enjoy the holidays
with your family. Rest up, eat a lot, open a lot of presents, spend time with
family members, and get lots of hugs. Isn't this a great time of year? See you
all "next year"!!
