We recently enjoyed apple centers during Johnny Appleseed Day. We learned a lot at the stations, and had a tasty time, too!!
|
Hunter and Troy compared tastes at this station. They were given two pieces of toast with apple jelly and apple butter on each. After eating their toast, they compared the apple jelly and apple butter on their venn diagram. What a yummy job!!

Kate and Joey didn't taste apples at this station, but they still had to complete comparisons. They used a hand lense to become apple detectives and investigated the outside of two apples. They drew what they discovered and then wrote a description of each. |
 |
At this station, the students got to measure different things in the classroom. Kamryn and Savanna decided to measure how long Ben was. He was a good sport and "put himself" into the project. I wonder how many apples long he really was? |
 |
Troy and Lena also decided to measure a team member. Hunter is definitely longer than the number of apples that they have to use for measuring his length. I wonder how they solved their problem? |
|
Sawyer seems to be all smiles at this
station. He made an apple smile and
then got to eat it. Does it taste
as good as it looks?

Hey, Michael. Looks like you need
a trip to the dentist! Those are
some mighty loose teeth!!!!
|
Everybody seemed to love this station. Joey especially liked dipping his apple slices in chocolate, strawberry, and caramel syrup. After tasting the different flavors, he wrote fact and opinion statements about apples and the dips.
All in all, I'd say that Apple Day was definitely a "sweet time" for everyone involved!
