This is my 17th year of teaching and my fifth year teaching at Tatum Ridge
Elementary. I have taught the past 13 years in third grade. Every year
has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such
wonderful students. Tatum Ridge Elementary is a great place where I truly
enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.
I have been married to my wonderful, husband Brian for nine years. We have
a five year old son Huston, who loves to be outside. I am lucky enough to
have him with me at Tatum Ridge. When Brian and I got married I also gained
another son Tony, who enjoys playing video games and begins college this
year, and daughter Rachel, who is in college and studying to be a teacher. My
parents have also moved to Florida and are enjoying retirement.
I graduated from Western Kentucky University in December of 1992 with a
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I completed my Masters Degree at
USF in the Teaching of Reading grades K-12 in 2004. I am a gifted endorsed
and an ESOL certified teacher. In 2007 I became certified to be a Kagan
school based trainer.
In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of cooperative learning and respect
of one another. I believe it is important to build a sense of community
among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. It is important to
have a winning team and race to the finish!
