I am going to list vocabulary and spelling words by lesson instead of date.  This will allow me to post a LOT of lessons ahead of time and let you preview words and review past words. I hope you find this useful.

Robust Vocabulary Lesson 12

 

deciphered: If you have figured out a message that is difficult to understand or that is written in code, then you have deciphered it.

mistaken: If you are wrong about something, you are mistaken.

catastrophe: A catastrophe is something really terrible that has happened.

fortunate: If you are fortunate, you are very lucky.

translate: If you translate something, you say or write it in another language.

repairs: When something needs repairs, it needs to be fixed.

heaving: Heaving is throwing something heavy with great effort.

bothersome: When something is bothersome, it bothers you and causes problems.

din: If there is a din, there is so much noise that it is hard to hear anything over it.

dodging: When you are dodging something, you a void something that is coming toward you.

tugged: If you tugged something, you pulled it hard.

paused: If you paused, you stopped what you were doing for just a moment.

scavenger: An animal is a scavenger if it collects leftover and unwanted objects.

self-sufficient: If something is self-sufficient, it makes everything it needs.

columns: A column is a tall, circular structure that holds up part of a building.

absorb: Something absorbs a liquid if it soaks up the liquid.

protects: When you protect something, you keep it safe.

rustling: When objects are rustling, they are moving and making soft sounds.

dissolve: When something dissolves, it mixes completely with a liquid.

particles: Tiny pieces of something are called particles.

sprout: When something sprouts, it begins to grow.

damp: If something is damp, it is a little bit wet.

transformation: If someone or something has gone through a transformation, it has been changed.

harmony: If two things are living in harmony, they are in agreement, living peacefully.

suppose: When you suppose something, you think it is true.

roost: Birds roost, or perch, when they sleep in trees at night.

spears: If someone spears something, he or she sticks something sharp through it.

strikes: If someone strikes something else, it hits it.

glimpse: When you get a glimpse of something, you get only a quick peek at it.

maze: A maze is a winding set of paths that is like a puzzle.

issue: An issue is an edition of a newspaper or magazine.

advice: If you give someone advice, you tell what you think the person should do.

consult; When you consult someone, you ask him or her for information.

recommend: When you recommend something, you tel l someone that you think it is good.

sensible: Someone who is sensible makes good decisions and judgments.

devise: To devise is to figure out a way to do something.

luscious: Something that is luscious appeals to your senses, such as your sense of taste.

shudder: If you shudder, you are trembling from fear or from being cold

expertise: If someone has expertise, he or she knows a lot about a particular topic or skill.

correspondence: If you send correspondence, you are communicating in writing.

 

  

Robust Vocabulary Lesson 16

 

charming: If you are charming, you have a way of p leasing people with what you say and how you act.

racket: If you make a lot of noise, you are making a racket.

ingenious: If you do something very clever or imaginative, you are ingenious.

outwit: If you trick someone by doing something clever you outsmart, or outwit, them.

tender: Something, like food, that is tender is soft and easy to chew or cut.

delighted: When you are very happy about something, you are delighted.

brittle: Things that are brittle are so stiff and hard that they break easily.

embraced: If you hugged someone, you embraced that person.

cunning: Someone who is cunning uses smart and tricky ways to get what he or she wants.

disguised: If you are disguised, you are wearing something that keeps people from knowing who you are.

awe: If something fills you with awe, you are amazed by it.

concentration: Concentration is focusing your attention on a single thing.

dilemma: A dilemma is a problem or a difficult situation.

commendable: If something is commendable, it is worthy of attention and praise.

glancing: When you are glancing at something, you are taking a quick look at it.

scolding: If you are scolding someone, you are angrily pointing out that person’s mistakes.

console: When you comfort or cheer someone, you console him or her.

heroic: Someone who is heroic is brave and acts like a hero.

drowsy: When you are drowsy, you feel so sleepy that you can ’t stay awake.

burden: A burden is a heavy load that is difficult to carry.

 

 

Robust Vocabulary Lesson 18

 

dull: When something is not shiny, it is dull.

towers: Something that is very tall towers over shorter things.

masterpiece: A great piece of art can be called a masterpiece.

heritage: Memories and traditions of your family’s past are part of your heritage.

ruined: If something is ruined, it is no longer any good.

crept: If you crept, you moved slowly and carefully so that you wouldn’t be seen or heard.

glorious: If something is so wonderful that you can hardly believe it, it is glorious.

memory: A memory is something you remember.

streak: To streak is to move very quickly form one place to another.

yanked: If you yanked something, you gave it a quick, hard pull.

 

 

Robust Vocabulary Lesson 19

 

deliberately: If you move slowly and carefully, you move deliberately.

composed: If you made up a song, you composed it.

gratitude: If you thank someone for something, you are showing gratitude.

compassion: If you are kind to someone who needs help, you are showing compassion.

swift: Something that is swift moves very quickly.

vain: If you are vain, you think very highly of yourself.

overheard: If you overheard what people said, you heard it without them knowing that you were listening.

suggested: If you suggested something, you gave someone an idea.

enormous: Something that is enormous is very big.

exclaimed: If you exclaimed something, you said it excitedly.

 

 

Robust Vocabulary Lesson 20

 

criticize: When you criticize something, you tell what you think is wrong with it.

dialogue: Conversation between people is called dialogue.

immerse: To immerse oneself is to become very involved in something.

mandatory: Something that is mandatory is required.

rehearse: To rehearse is to practice for a performance.

versions: If there are different versions of a story, the story is told in different ways.

camaraderie: People have camaraderie when they are comfortable with each other and spend a lot of time together.

flawless: If a performance is flawless, there are no mistakes in it.

tragic: A tragic event is something that is both sad and horrible.

limp: When something is limp, it is too weak to move or support itself.
