Mission For The Class

My mission is to help prepare each student to do his/her best on the October
PSAT National Merit Qualifying exam, the AP Language and Composition exam in
May 2010, and the SAT and/or ACT college entrance exams, including the SAT
II writing exam. Throughout this course, students will enhance their verbal
skills. They will expand their critical thinking and analytical skills
through the consistent examination of both classic and contemporary fiction
and nonfiction that includes essays, speeches, letters, memoirs, as well as a
variety of graphic representations that support argument. My mission is to
improve their writing skills by helping students learn and apply to their own
writing a variety of organizational techniques, choose appropriate rhetorical
strategies, develop strategies for improved content and detail selection, and
apply correct grammatical rules in order to become better writers both in
college and in their future careers.
