What is the policy on use of cell phones/ipods?
Please refer to the Fact Sheet that is available on the handouts
tab.
How can I schedule a conference about my child?
The best way to schedule an in-person conference is to contact
your child's
guidance counselor. The counselor can schedule a group
conference with all
teachers at one time, saving time for both parent and teacher.
Email is
another way to communicate with the teacher. Telephone
conferences are the
most efficient use of parent time to discuss an issue with just
one teacher
if email is not sufficient. I highly recommend phone calls. It
is
difficult to contact me during school hours, however, because of
meetings
scheduled during our planning time, so I suggest an email asking
me to call
at a certain time during my planning period or after school.
Please do not
call right before class starts at 7:30 AM. This is a time when I
will
probably not be prepared for your inquiries and preparing to
begin class. My
planning time is from 10:35 AM to 12:45 PM. I could make a phone
call to
you during that time or after school until around 3:30 PM.
Can my child turn in late work?
I do accept late work, however, there is a penalty of 20% a week
beginning
the day after the assignment is due. I will let the students
know when I
stop accepting late assignments before the end of a quarter.
Please check
SmartWeb regularly so that missing assignments are noticed.
Students are
encouraged to turn their assignments in as late as 5 weeks after
the due
date for some credit.
What can my child do as extra credit?
Extra credit, when it is offered, is offered to everyone. There
are jobs that need to be done in the classroom that offer extra
credit. Students also may recieve some bonus points for working
well with their groups and assisting in the positive climate of
the classroom.
