Book Projects are due on Monday, November 30th. Instructions and grading
rubric are availabe in the handouts section. Presentations will begin on
that day. Students must be prepared when called or they will lose 50% on
that day and must be ready the next day. Plot Diagrams must accompany
the project.
Our book presentations will take place during the first period of our two
period class time. The second period will be taken up with reading our
group reciprocal teaching book "Scorpions".Once we have seen all of the
book projects we will work on the group reading during both periods.
Students are due to have read 600 pages in class on their own by the end of
the quarter. Many students are well on their way but most are behind. After
they reach 1200 pages, they qualify for bonus grades for their reading
activity. Many students are doing a great job on their reading. Keep up the
good work. We still read for 20 minutes a day in class. This will be
curtailed a bit when we begin our small group reading as I would like to
finish this first book by the time we go off for Winter Break. Reading can
always be done at home. Students have their books checked out from the
VHS Library, my classroom library or can bring in books from home.
