Know what Japan’s Closed Policy is all about.
Know what factors helped to spur trade and exploration to foreign lands.
Readings: We are reading the sections in the order as follows: Large textbook (on line- or DVD) Chapter 3 section 1, pgs 95-101. Chapter 3 section 3, pgs 108-113. In these sections we are looking at the beginning of exploration in the Asian realm. Review sheets are as follows: Chpt 3/1: Guided reading pg 60, Chpt 3/3: guided reading pg 62. Quiz is Thursday 12/5. We will review Wed- terms and concepts. Everything is posted on LEARN under Chpt 3 folder in lessons tab.
11/22-11/26. Students will be working on a section about Japan (small textbook) the assignment is as follows: Section 4 & 5, chapter12 in small text book (pages 339-349), Read sections 4 & 5: Page 343: answer # 4, 5, 8, Page 347: answer # 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,Page 348-349: answer: # 15, 16 and complete Primary Sources 1-3. Using the chart on page 361 explain the similarities between the structure of European Feudalism and Japanese Feudalism. When writing this comparison, make note of the similarities and differences in court life and roles of woman as well.
11/18/13: today in class: continued with charting the major Protestant reformers. (all students should have the following: Wycliffe, Hus, Erasmus, Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Knox, Anabaptist, Henry VIII, and Elizabeth I.) Wycliffe & Hus were given in class- the others listed are in section 2-4 of Chapter 1. Students were to look for: bio information, religious reforms, political reforms, and outcomes. Not all the above were political, not all were religious, some were both. It was also explained to students they needed to note short and long term impacts (outcomes) of what each of the above started. This information will be used to spur class discussion Tuesday and Wed and to review for the Quiz Thursday. Students were also told section 4 review sheets must be turned in Tuesday. All class was given to work on the above.
11/15/13: Finish Luther review- began to discuss Protestant Ref. WIll continue discussion Monday- DUE 11/19/13 section 4 sheet, Quiz Thursday
11/14/13: review sheet for section 3 due today. Watch information about Luther- Friday we will finish Luther introduction and begin reviewing infomormation about Section 3 & 4: Students will be tasked in making a chart about the major Protestant reformers and their political/religious reasonings for change. Howdy- sorry I am outL I have had to amend a few assignments due to my extended absence.
Please make note of the changes-
1) Black Death paper- I am delaying it until next week since I cannot go over the documents with you. We will chat about that on Monday.
2) 3x5 note cards: Due Monday 11/11 not Friday 11/8- Anyone who scored below a 70 on the last quiz is required to do these cards as stated the other day, others may do them for extra credit as discussed in class. If you were not in class Tuesday- make sure you get the “What you need to know” it is located on the back side of the Chpt 1 section 2 worksheet.
3) Periods 3, 4, & 7: ICE due Friday- after 3:00P.M. they will be late. If you have them physically – place them in the metal bin. I am having them picked up after school on Friday.
4) Chapter 1, section 1 work sheets BOTH sides- were passed out Wed- they should have been done in class wed. The sub has the names of the students who did not turn the work in. You must turn the sheet in before it is reviewed- in fact, turn it into sub now- he/she has your name and will call for it. If you do not turn it in when he/she asks for it you will receive a “0”.
5) Turn in section 2 work sheet when done.
6) Complete map review sheet- it is due Friday- if you do not finish it in class, it is homework and must be turned in Friday so I can grade it over the weekend.
I expect you all to have done section 2 without any problems well before the end of class Thursday and for you to have almost completed the map. No goofing around and not working.
7) Friday: you will be given a review sheet quiz for section 1 & 2: you may use the book- but may not work in pairs- Whatever you finish (or don’t finish) is due by the end of the class and will be graded over the weekend so do not dilly dally- Make sure it gets done in class!
8) If you finish your work early: work on 3x5 cards- and anything else the sub has for you to do from me…. And yes there is more if necessary!
We are going to have to push our quiz back until Wed of Next week. But you should still study the materials given to you and be ready Wed. I will be back on Monday-
11/4 for 11/5: period 3 finish dbq letter F, N, O period 7+ finish DBQ A, B, F for class.
Week 11/4 to 11/8: Monday and Tuesday we will finish up Black Death documents, take open notes quiz chpt 15 Tuesday- students have been forewarned about this- if the worksheets are not with the student they are still expected to take quiz. Make up quizzes will happen at lunch, before or after school not during class. Students will be assigned a 2 paragraph essay relating to the documents. Information will be provided in class and has been posted on this site- a drop box was created for those who would like to electronically submit it. Unless it is not possible I want this assignment typed. This is to ensure I can read the responses so I can accurately grade them. Our next unit will be Chapter 1 of our text book: Renaissance and Reformation. Quiz will be Wed 11/13/13- section one and two will have review sheets assigned, I will provide them for students on Tues. Both sheets for Section 1 are due Thursday, Section 2 is Due Tursday in class. Students will be required to make 3x5 study cards for names and terms. This will be graded and is due by Friday 11/8/13. The “What you need to know” has been posted, and will be handed out Tuesday in class.
ICE will be considered extra credit assignments after the article due 11/8/13. ICE assignments, if done, will be due by the 15th and the last day of the month. For November the first extra credit will be due Nov 30. I will not accept late work since this is extra credit for the second quarter. Events must be international, and occur between first day of the current month to the 15th, then from the 16th until the last day of the month. If any of the four elements required are missing, the assignment will not be accepted. This is an extra credit assignment, and only work that is valued at a 100 grade will be accepted.
10-30-11/4-5: we have been working on the Black Death documents. Students have paired up to analyze a document. Presentations should start Monday. Open note quiz for chpt 15 (sections 1, 2, &3) will be Tuesday. Students must have their packets. If students do not have sheets will still be expected to take quiz.
ICE is due this Friday: 11/8/13.
10/30: checked hw- passed out 15/3 began Black Death Primary Source activity- we will continue working on this during the week.
10/29: checked work from 10/28 (15/1 whsht)- received 15/2 sheet due Wed- finished "The Plague".
10/21/13 reviewed notes in class. Due to my planned day off Tuesday- assignments for Tuesday- in class review sheets for section 3 & 4: answers will be given, Joan of Arc's Trial document and 3 questions: due by end of class. Homework is a review sheet due Wed- this sheet will be an excellent source of study for quiz on Thursday. Make sure you know the causes & effects of: The Great Schism, 100 years war, plague,and the Great Famine 1315-1317 (notes for this are on the power point and were handed out in class). STUDY!!!!
