I was born and raised in a small town in Maine. I graduated from
BATES COLLEGE with a degree in Biology. After graduation, I took a position
as a lab tech at a local hospital. I later decided to obtain my teaching
certificate, and that was the best decision I ever made! I have over
twenty years experience teaching science. In that time, I have continued
to learn with a Masters in Educational Leadership and an advanced degree in
School Administration. I am a life-long learner.
I moved to Florida several years ago with my husband, Sam, and am
very happy with the weather and the great people of Sarasota county. I have
two children, Scott, a recent college graduate, and Rachel, a junior in
college. In my spare time, I enjoy the out-of-doors, reading, crafting and
dancing to the oldies.
Dear Mustang Students and Parents,
Welcome to eighth grade science we explore the world around us through
the eyes of a scientist!
We will use the scientific processes and habits of mind to develop
the knowledge and skills necessary to study science in a way that will lead
to success in our academic, career and life-learning goals. We will explore
a curriculum based on science standards with a hands-on approach that is
both challenging and interesting.
We will learn in a cooperative and respectful learning environment
in which each member of this class will have a voice. Active participation
and high expectations for learning are a must as we work to listen and learn
science from each other.
We will use all resources available in our classroom, within the
school and beyond to guide us on our quest. We will work to communicate
our learning with all those involved: school, parents and community.
I am completely committed to providing you with a great science
education and a positive learning experience. Your active involvement will
make this possible.
