About The Teacher

While many find some of my habits a little "peculiar" (tomatoes
everywhere, funny accent, Donna the Buffalo/Jerry Jeff Walker/ Jimmy
Buffett music, and whatnot), I am generally considered to be harmless. I
really enjoy reading, writing, cats, the beach, music of various types (but
especially The Beatles), crossword puzzles, movies, ice-cream, the Atlanta
Braves, Tennessee Volunteer Sports, the Tampa Bay Bucs & Rays, Miami
Dolphins,drums/drummers and cooking. I am married (25th annivesary this May)
to French Canadian lady that is a lot prettier and smarter than me. Sarasota
has been home for 22 years, moving here from Atlanta, Georgia and prior to
that, the great state of Tennessee.

I received a B.S. in Education from the University of Tennessee, a M.Ed from
National Louis University in curriculum and instruction. I also hold a
gifted endorsement from the state of Florida.

This is my 13th year at SMS, 1 of which I was an 8th grade science teacher
with the Gnu team, 5 with the multi-grade Loggerheads. I spent 3 years with
the multi-grade Pioneers and I am now really looking forward to a 4th year
of being a multi-grade Voyager.

This year we will study the geography, history, culture, government &
economics of the Americas & Europe. We will also study about "The World We
Live In" (cheeseburgers & paradise), pirates & the Caribbean, Blues music,
the Holocaust, & life its own self. We will also be participating in
the History Phair with the theme this year being "Innovation in History:
Impact & Change."

To quote the Beatles, "a splendid time is guaranteed to all."

 Inspiring Words:

"Cool Attracts!" (Callyn Hall & I "invented" this theory.)

"You give to the world, you give to yourself,
when you're giving your best to somebody else."
(These are lyrics from Donna the Buffalo - a very cool band.)
