Mustang Team Assignment Policy

General Assignments:

·       Assignments are expected to be submitted on the due date.

·       Late Assignments may be accepted for partial credit.

·       All teachers provide help sessions for students who need extra time or assistance completing assignments.

·       Chronically late or missing work may also result in placement into an Assistance Program at SMS.

What about Long Term Assignments?

·       Long Term Assignments such as formal written work, projects, labs, and notebook checks are expected to be submitted on the due date.

·       Long Term Assignments may be accepted late for partial credit.

·       All teachers provide help sessions for students who need extra time or assistance completing long term assignments.

What if I or my student is absent?

·       In the event of an extenuating circumstance leading to an excused absence from school, the student will receive one (1) extra day per day absent from school to complete the assignment.  For example, if a student is absent for two (2) days, the student will be given an extra two (2) days to complete the assignment.  Students who are absent the day before a test or quiz are expected to return ready to take the exam with the class.

·       After the grace period has ended, the Mustang Team Assignment Policy will be in effect.

·       Upon return to school, it is the responsibility the student to identify assignments missed and to complete them.

Three easy ways to identify missed work:

·       Copy down missed work from the teacher’s Agenda Book/Folder.  Each teacher keeps an updated agenda and/or folder in the classroom for students to retrieve assignments missed while absent.

·       Look it up online.  Many teachers also keep homework posted on the website.

·       Lastly, speak with the teacher.  We are more than happy to do whatever it takes to help our students get assignments completed on and submitted on time.
