Who am I?

Hi there! I'm Jason Sharrock a Multi-Age Science teacher and Team Leader of
the Voyagers Team. This is my 7th year teaching at Sarasota Middle School,
and I also had the pleasure of graduating from Sarasota Middle School as a
student! I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's of
Science in Zoology with a Specialization in Biology Education. Don't let all
of the life science fool you! I love all different types of science! While
at UF, I took classes in Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Psychology,
Physiology, Anatomy, Human Nutrition, and even the History of Science! I
also graduated from the University of Florida with a Master's degree in
Education. In addition, I have my National Board Certification in the area of
Early Adolescent Science.

My other interests include movies of all types, music of all types, the
martial arts, watching football, baseball, tennis,a little
bit of golf here and there, and spending time with my wife who is also a
science teacher. I also very much enjoy reading. Some of my favorite
author's include Dan Brown, Christopher Paolini, Jonathan Stroud, Phillip
Pullman, Orson Scott Card, Douglas Adams, Michael Crichton, Garth Nix,
Stephenie Meyer, D.J MacHale, and J.K. Rowling of course! I've been spending
a portion of my summer re-reading some of my favorites.

This summer we are preparing for our first child who is due on November 9th.
We will be reading lots of books, getting the nursery ready, taking classes,
and buying what she needs. Oh yeah, I will also be spending a lot of time
working on creating interactive labs and lessons so that we will
have an exciting, fun, and educational year.

Mission For The Class

My main mission is to create independent scientific thinkers who understand
how to use the scientific method while obtaining a mastery of the assigned
content. Also, to develop an appreciation for science and the good that it
has accomplished for humanity. Oh, and to have LOTS OF FUN doing it!
