Homework Policies

Homework serves for several academic purposes. Homework is important and has
meaning. It's a review and practice of what the children have learned. They
learn to use resources, such as libraries, reference materials,
dictionaries,
encyclopedias, and computers. Homework also serves to explore a subject more
fully.

Homework helps children develop good work habits and attitudes. It can teach
them the fundamentals of working independently and encourages self-
discipline
and responsibility. Parents your support and encouragement can be critical
to
the successful completion of assignments.

Homework policies are as follows:

* Weekly homework will be assigned on Monday Mornings according to what is
being learned that week.
* Homework assignments will be explained to the students every Monday and
will remain written on the board the whole week. Students will be notified
of
any assignment changes before the homework is due.
* Expect a short assignment for Reading, Vocabulary, and Mathematics on a
daily basis.
* Homework assignments will be due the following Monday morning in
their
individual homework folder.
* If a child is sick, the homework can be made-up the following day.
* If a child is going out of town and I am notified with a few days in
advance. The homework assignments will be given to the student before they
leave or the assignments can be made-up when they return.

Self-discipline and Responsibility is a key for success.
