Reducing tobacco use among young people is critical to our nation's future!
In 2001, 28.5% of US high school students reported smoking at least one day
in the last 30 days. While cigarettes remain the primary tobacco product used
by young people, smokeless tobacco and cigars have gained popularity.
Alternative tobacco products like bidis (small brown cigarettes from India)
and kreteks (flavored cigarettes containing cloves) are used less comonly.
Research has shown a definite risk to heart disease and cancer for smokers
and users of other tobacco products.
Are the students at Alton C. Crews informed enough on the dangers of smoking?
If not, what can we do to change that?
