VIRTUAL TRIP AROUND THE WORLD 

Congratulations! You have just won the Georgia Lottery. You will be 
traveling the world for 21 days.  Your departure and arrival dates must be 
in the month of June.  If you are traveling by yourself, you have $15,000.  
If traveling with a group, each member of your group has $10,000.  

You will travel to 1 country in Africa, 1 in the Middle East and 1 in Asia 
for a total of three countries. We suggest you work in groups of three but 
you may choose to complete the project individually.

You will have limited class time to work on the project from Monday 4/27- 
Tuesday 5/12. DO NOT LEAVE IT ALL UNTIL THE LAST DAY! 

You will be sharing your “travel stories” with your classmates during the 
week of May 12th (on the day specified by your teacher). 

PROJECT DUE DATE: TUESDAY, May 12th 2009

You may choose from among the following formats:
	Professional-looking report in a cover- Your report should include 
illustrations such as clip-art or pictures from the internet. 
	Scrapbook- Please use basic art supplies and your best judgment.  
This should not be an expensive project.  Your grade is based on content, 
not stickers or glitter glue.
 
The information in boxes should be addressed for each country.  
For each of the countries you visit you are responsible for researching and 
writing up, (in paragraph form) information on the topics listed below.  
This is a total of 7 paragraphs for each country.  These paragraphs should 
be in your words.
1.	Economy: name of currency, exchange rate, the price of a common item
2.	Government: type, explanation, the capital and where is it located, 
human rights issue
3.	History: a historical site and its significance
4.	Tourist Attractions: four in addition to the historical site
5.	Customs: religion, festivals/holidays, other interesting info
6.	Language: official language or languages spoken, 
                  include important phrases. 
7.	Healthcare: necessary immunizations, emergency care access number

Include the following information in your detailed itinerary: (Listed)
1.	Calculate how long you were in flight?  Are there any layovers? 
2.	Include the hotels/ hostels/ campsites where you will stay. You must 
have a minimum of 1 for each country but for the purpose of your budget, you 
must multiply this price by the number of nights you will stay.  If your 
hotel includes breakfast, please note that in your hotel information.
3.	Include the name of an actual restaurant you will eat at in the 
country. Be sure to include the address of this restaurant. For the purpose 
of your budget you can multiply the number of days you are in the country by 
the low end of the estimated price range found in 
your research. 1 bonus point per country if you can find a MENU from the 
actual restaurant. 
4.	Include the tourist attractions you will visit (4 per country) plus 
the historical site. Write a paragraph about these attractions in your words.
5.	What is the best way to get around?  (Walking? Bike? Public transit? 
Taxi?)  You cannot rent a car.  Include a map of the cities you visit.  One 
point bonus if you can find a public transit map of your city or highlight 
the route you traveled within your city on your city map if your city does 
not have a public transit system.

ALSO: 
1.	An itemized list of all expenses for the trip with the total price 
included. REMEMBER AIRFARE/ ACCOMMODATION/ FOOD/ & ENTRANCES TO PLACES! 
2.	Airline tickets must leave from Atlanta, go to all destinations and 
return to Atlanta. The travel dates are between June 1st and June 30th.  
Include departure and arrival dates and times.  Dates must correspond with 
your itinerary.


Please see the rubric: all work is typed with correct spelling and grammar.
The only materials that can be printed out directly from the internet are 
the 
airfare information,pictures of attractions, hotel information, restaurant 
information, and menus.
REMEMBER all 7 paragraphs and your tourist attractions and historical site 
information should be written in your own words. 
Please document in MLA format all resources.
