How many AR books does my child have to read?
Each student in the 2nd grade is required to read and pass (85% or above) 6
AR test each 9 weeks.
--------------------------------------
How many books does my child have to read to become a millionaire?
Each student in 2nd grade is required to read 125 books to become
a "MILLIONAIRE". Millionaire books include the stories that we read in
class and stories that are read at home in the "take-home reader". Any
books that are read at home should be recorded on the log that I have
provided and returned each time a log is complete. I will keep track with
the weekly reading stories.
--------------------------------------
When will test be given?
A spelling test will be given each Friday.
A reading test will be given each Friday for our class story.
A comprehension test will be given each Friday on our "take-home reader".
I will send a notice home prior to a test being given in Science or Social
Studies or any unit tests.

What story does my child read in his/her take-home reader?
Your child should have brought home a blue book on the first day of school
entitled "Out of the Blue". On week one the students should have read "This
is the Way We Go to School". On week 2, "Emily and Alice Again". They will
continue with the third story on week 3 and so on. When each story is read
they will return the books to me and receive another one. This is a story
that is read AT HOME only. We do not read this story in class. There are 5
inferential questions. They must answer in complete sentences using words
in the question. This is a 2nd grade skill and it will be seen on the CRCT.
I will work with the students throughout the first 9 weeks. The first two
test will not count as grades. It is imperative that your child read this
story each night.
