Accelerated Reading (AR) Log Homework :
************************************************************ Read your (AR) book every day for homework. 14 AR points will be required by the end of each nine week grading period. A minimum of 7 points will be required by progress report time which is a minimum of 1.6 AR points per week. AR points will count toward a portion of the reading grade. Each student is required to keep up with the minimal AR points every week. More points are encouraged so you don't get behind.
Document the pages in your AR log when you take the AR test. ***************************************************************************
Millionaire Log Read at least 30 mins or 20 pages each day. Document this type of reading in your Millionaire Reading Log. 25 books are required to reach Millioniare status. You can do it!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reading is a daily homework assignment. Please document all readings in the reading log to receive points towards the "Millionaire's Book Club". Our school objective is that 100% of our students will read the required number of books per grade level (25 books for fifth grade) to become a reading millionaire. Weekly Story: " It's Our World, Too!!"- Read weekly story a minimum of (3) times. The written test is every Wednesday. The AR (MH) test is every Friday, and given on the computer in the Exploratory Lab
Weekly Story: Complete questions for "It's Our World,Too" (1-5) in your Reading Text Book. Write in cursive and write the answers in a complete question/answer format (the answer should start with the question) and of course it should make sense.
Vocabulary / Challenge words pg 45/ (Must be neatly written in cursive)Complete the (Six) weekly Challenge (Vocabulary) word definitions (all of the definitions if they have two meanings) & sentences. Due every week on Wednesday.
Bonus word is "dangled" / Look up the definitions in the glossary in the back of the reading book. Find and write a sentence in the story that used each vocabulary word. Remember to underline the Vocabulary Word in the sentence. Underline the challenge word in each sentence. It is important to be able to follow directions. This Homework is worth twelve ponts. No late assignments will be accepted without an approved written excuse.

AR Reading - Be prepared to take and pass a test every week. No less than 7 AR points with an average reading score of 85% are needed by progress report period and no less than 10 points (for 1st grading period) with a reading average of 85% by the 8th week of each grading period. Please inform me if there is a problem of why this can not or could not be accomplished.
Grammar: None today
Writing: 5 senses story: Final draft due on Monday. Introduction: Time and place. Body: 3 paragraphs with supporting and meaningful details. Conclusion: expresses feeling. Remember, "Show, Don't Tell"
Science: Chapter Two - Earth's Structure, (Lesson 1) will begin next week.
