Classroom Discipline Plan
In order to enforce the rules of our school and in the classroom, I
want to inform you of my classroom discipline procedures and student
expectations. I use a system of rules, consequences, and rewards to
motivate the student to be responsible for their own behavior. Their
behavior is controlled by their choice to follow the rules. The following
is a list of our class rules, consequences, rewards, and conduct grading
formula:
I. CLASS RULES
1. We will listen to and follow directions.
2. We will raise our hand and wait for permission to speak.
3. We will stay in our seat unless we have permission to do otherwise.
4. We will show respect to our classmates and all adults.
5. We will work quietly.
6. We will always do our best.
7. We will come to class prepared to do my work.
8. We will respect school property
II. CONSEQUENCES
Each student will have a conduct pocket. Each time a student is
disciplined he/she will move a number stick into his/her pocket. This chart
will help keep the child aware of his/her behavior. Students who have an
empty pocket for the week receive a 100/A in conduct for the week.
Consequences for failing to abide by these rules after a warning has been
given may include:
1. 1st number stick verbal reprimand (Conduct grade reduced
to 80%)
2. 2nd number stick = (Conduct grade reduced to 70%)
3. 3rd number stick = (Conduct grade reduced to 60%).
4. 4th number stick = Conduct grade reduced to 50%.
5. If the behavior is not corrected after the loss of the fourth card
in the same week, the student will be referred to the Assistant Principal.
6. When student continues to be a chronic violator of classroom rules
(a pattern of losing cards) and parent conferences have not proven
effective, then student will be sent to the office.
7. These consequences will not apply for major violations; student will
be sent directly to the office in this case and the student will receive a
50% grade.
Parents will be informed of any dicipline measures taken by a notation on
the Parent Communication page in the student's "Dog Book".
III. REWARDS
1. Trip to the treasure chest
2. Good Conduct Grade.
3. Recognized with other students by Principal at the end of the nine
weeks.
4. Popcorn Parties
IV. FORMULA FOR NINE WEEKS CONDUCT GRADE
The formula to calculate the conduct grade each nine weeks will be daily
conduct grades added together and divided by the number of days in the
grading period.
We here at Britt David Magnet Academy are committed to creating an
environment where teachers can teach and students can learn. It is my
intent to reinforce positive behaviors and this system allows us to
accomplish this. Please reinforce the idea that each child is responsible
for his/her behavior. Self-discipline is one of the best lessons a child
can learn!
