I have been teaching for 26 years in the public school system. I taught in
Tennessee and South Carolina before settling in Georgia. Chattanooga,
Tennessee is my hometown.
This is my 18th year at Big Shanty. My class is an Interrelated Resource
class servicing Learning Disabled, Behavior Disordered, Autistic, and Other
Health Impaired students. For the last several years I have taught fourth
grade, both in an inclusion setting, and in small group settings.
In 2004-05, I was elected Teacher of the Year at Big Shanty! This is an
honor of which I'm most proud!
Mr. Long and I have two children. My daughter, Amanda, got married this
summer after graduating from KSU. My son, Jarrod, is 19 and attends college
at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee where he is pursuing a pastoral
ministries degree.
I enjoy traveling, especially to our cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains.
I also enjoy reading, traveling, going to garage sales, and antiquing.
I love teaching at Big Shanty!
My mission objective is to help each child achieve socially, emotionally, and
academically. With IEP's to drive instruction, I hope to assist each child
to achieve to the highest extent possible!
