PHONICS - The letter for the week of Dec. 8 is U. Please continue to review with your child the
letters we have studied so far. They are A, B, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, U.
FIELD TRIP - The kindergarteners from Blanchard had a wonderful field trip to CSU on Dec. 5 to
see the play, THE TOYS TAKE OVER CHRISTMAS and see Santa Claus!!! We had a well behaved
group. :) Thanks to Cole's mom, Jennifer Edsell, for the assistance in supervision!
HOLIDAY SHIRTS - We have sponge painted our showman shirts and they look wonderful! We chose a
winter theme, rather than strictly Christmas, so the shirt can be worn and enjoyed all winter.
Thanks to Wolfie's mom, Michelle Henning, for providing some extra shirts so that all the
children would have one!
FRIDAY, DEC. 19 - We have a fun day planned and that means we have some needs. We will make
Rudolph cookies Friday morning and have our party in the afternoon. We need supplies for each
event and would very much appreciate your help. I am asking each family to contribute
something, but if you are unable to do so, PLEASE let me know by Wed., Dec. 17. Your requested
contribution will be on the newsletter being sent home Thurs., Dec. 11. Thank you very much for
your help!
HOMEWORK - Being sent home today (Thurs. Dec. 11) are the poems for this week and next week.
Your child will be familiar with the one from this week, but not the one for next week. These
are meant to be fun holiday poems for you and your child to enjoy together, but still encourage
her/him to read familiar words. Your child may return the poetry journal any day by Thurs.,
Dec. 18. Please remember to sign the poem page so I will know you and your child read the poems
together, and your child will receive the homework reward (a sticker for a step closer to the
treasure box).
IF YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE AT SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, DEC. 19, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Thank
you. We wish for every one of you a wonderful, safe, and happy holiday! Love, Ms. Singletary
and Ms. Zirchelbach
BLANCHARD CHRISTMAS PROGRAM - I encourage you to attend the Blanchard production of NUTCRACKER
on Dec. 16, 7:00 PM in the Shaw High School auditorium. It is performed by Blanchard 3rd
graders and Blanchard chorus. This is a Blanchard tradition, which your child has to look
forward to as a 3rd grader, thanks to our wonderful music teacher, Mr. Eric Jones!
SNACKS - Some parents have been wonderful in supplying snacks and drinks on a regular basis.
The children thank you VERY much! They REALLY look forward to their snacks in the afternoon
since they had lunch at 10:40! In a previous note, I asked for individually wrapped snacks.
That is not necessary. A BOX of anything is greatly appreciated ¡V it goes farther and is less
expensive. We are at the end of our snack suppy. Mrs. Zirkelbach and I do contribute, as
well, and we very much appreciate your assistance.
