Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

Thanks again to our donor who made the field trip to Westville possible.  The students loved the experience!
We are now in the holiday season and things will be moving fast, please check OWL books daily and look for reminder notes.  Next Friday we will walk across the street to Heritage Hills to give out "Turkey Treats" and sing for the residents.  If you could please send individualy wrapped, sugar free candy, it would be greatly appreciated.  The students will use this candy for the treat cups which we will be making.  THANKS to all of the parents who have sent in candy

The week after Thanksgiving we are going to start on our "Christmas Around the World".  We will be exploring different customs and traditions around the world.  The activities will relate to the standards for second grade students.  We will also start working on our Dear Santa letters.  We will email Santa and wait for his response.  At the beginning of the year you were asked to sign an internet usage form, if I do not have one for your child, one will be sent home.  Please sign and return the form as soon as possible.  Without this form your child will not be able to participate but will write a letter to Santa instead.  Many of us have different beliefs and traditions and I ask for you and your child to be tolerable of others' and their beliefs.  The magic of Christmas is a special time for everyone but especially to our children.

Please remind your child that he/she is expected to follow all of the rules at school, I know we get excited when we have special things to do.  The reward for hard work during the week is snacks and juice on Friday.  If your child has a black, one red, two yellows or is sent to the office on his/her behavior sheet he/she will not be allowed to participate in "Fun Friday" activities.  Please make sure homework and behavior is checked and reviewed.  A missing signature willl result in a clip being moved.  Also, please send an excuse within three days when your child is absent from school.  After that time the absence will be marked as unexcused.  After five unexcused absences you will receive a letter from the visiting teacher.

Your child should be checking out two AR books and taking AR tests. Please check his/her AR folder daily.  You will need to initial the AR form stating that your child is ready to take a test.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me or call the office and leave a message.  I will respond as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Ms. McVay
